Can Tho Fertilizer and Chemical: From Technical Innovation to a Change in Production Methods
Automatic pressure release for spray cream pipelines, online motor monitoring, and in-process screen cleaning are initiatives introduced by the Technical Department of Can Tho Fertilizer and Chemical Joint Stock Company during 2025–2026. These solutions target specific production challenges, enhancing operational safety, facilitating proactive equipment monitoring, and reducing downtime and labour requirements.
Starting from practical production needs, the company’s technical team has gradually applied technology, improved equipment, and changed work practices. This approach concretises the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on scientific and technological development, innovation, and digital transformation, as applied to daily business operations.
Automatic Pressure Release – Enhancing Operational Safety
Spray cream pipelines operate under high pressure. When pressure rises, operators must monitor and release pressure appropriately, which requires constant attention and timely response to ensure the safety of equipment and pipelines.

To address this, the Technical Department implemented the automatic pressure release valve for the spray cream pipeline. The system comprises a pressure sensor, controller, automatic release valve, and alarm. When pressure exceeds the set threshold, the system signals an alarm and activates the release valve to bring pressure back to a safe level.
This solution reduces reliance on manual intervention, increases pressure control, and supports safe operation. It has also enabled the reduction of one operator per shift in this stage.
A task that previously required constant monitoring and intervention is now automated, making operations more proactive.
Online Motor Monitoring – Proactive Fault Prevention
Motors are critical equipment within the production line. While regular inspections help assess condition, faults arising between inspections may go undetected, potentially leading to failure and downtime if not addressed promptly.

To improve equipment management, the Technical Department installed an online motor monitoring system. This system continuously tracks electrical parameters, temperature, vibration, and motor operational status.
Upon detecting anomalies, technical staff can check and assess the equipment’s condition and proactively plan maintenance. Continuous monitoring allows early problem detection, reducing the risk of unexpected shutdowns and significant damage.
The system’s data also supplements routine inspection and maintenance, supporting more proactive equipment management rather than relying solely on scheduled checks.
Reducing Downtime with In-Process Screen Cleaning
In the screening stage, material build-up or clogging on the round screen can reduce efficiency and force shutdowns for cleaning, impacting production time and requiring extra manpower.

The Technical Department designed and installed a round screen cleaning device, allowing cleaning during operation. This reduces material build-up and clogging, maintains screening efficiency, and minimises downtime.
This initiative has also allowed a reduction of one operator per shift at this stage.
In-process cleaning reduces manual intervention, limits disruption, and helps maintain stable equipment operation.
Implementing Innovation Across Production Stages
These three innovations focus on automating manual tasks, increasing device monitoring, and reducing downtime.
All solutions stemmed from practical production needs: automation for tasks requiring regular monitoring and intervention; online monitoring for equipment prone to faults; and in-process cleaning to avoid production interruptions.
Such improvements give concrete effect to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on scientific and technological development, innovation, and digital transformation within the enterprise, with technology and technical improvements emerging directly from production requirements.
At Can Tho Fertilizer and Chemical, innovation begins with everyday work. From automatic pressure release and online motor monitoring to in-process screen cleaning, every initiative aims for safer production, better equipment control, and more efficient resource use.
Continued identification, research, and application of solutions from production realities will help the company further expand automation, improve equipment reliability, and enhance management and operational methods.
