Vinachem at Vietlao Expo 2026: From Trade Connection to Expanding Vietnam–Laos Cooperation
On the afternoon of 16th July 2026, the Viet Nam–Laos Trade Fair (VIETLAO EXPO) 2026 was officially opened at the Lao International Trade Exhibition and Convention Centre (Lao-ITECC) in Vientiane. As part of the day’s activities, Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú, General Director of the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem), joined the ribbon-cutting ceremony, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Phongsavanh Group, and, together with delegates, visited Vinachem’s exhibition area and other notable stands at the fair.
Vinachem’s General Director at the VIETLAO EXPO 2026 Opening Ceremony
After nearly two decades as an annual event, VIETLAO EXPO has become Vietnam’s largest trade promotion activity in Laos, held under the National Trade Promotion Programme for 2026, co-hosted by the Ministries of Industry and Trade of both countries. The opening ceremony on 16th July saw the participation of Mr. Nguyễn Minh Tâm, Ambassador of Vietnam to Laos; leaders of both Ministries of Industry and Trade; and a large number of Vietnamese and Lao businesses. Vinachem’s General Director, Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú, joined Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Tâm and ministerial leaders to perform the ribbon-cutting to inaugurate the fair.

As one of the largest Vietnamese state-owned groups exhibiting this year, Vinachem’s presence at the opening marks a specific step in implementing Resolution No. 79-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of major state-owned economic groups with regional and international competitiveness. As the leading state-owned chemical group in Vietnam, with over 33 subsidiaries and a recent ranking of 148th in the Fortune Southeast Asia 500, Vinachem’s deep engagement in trade promotion in Laos further affirms its core role in the regional chemical industry.
Signing of Memorandum of Understanding with Phongsavanh Group
Immediately following the ribbon-cutting, within the opening programme of VIETLAO EXPO 2026, Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú, representing Vinachem, and Mr. Khamlar Lolonsy, Vice Chairman of Phongsavanh Group, signed a memorandum of understanding between the two groups. The agreement establishes a cooperation framework focusing on fertilisers, product distribution and trade, logistics—including potassium chloride from Vinachem’s potash mining project in Laos—industrial chemicals, rubber and tyres, batteries, consumer chemicals, and agricultural development, laying the foundation for practical collaboration going forward.

On the same day, the Vinachem delegation led by Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú visited the headquarters of Phongsavanh Group—one of Laos’s leading private economic groups, comprising some 20 subsidiaries across banking, energy, mining, logistics, and aviaton sectors. The two groups have collaborated since 2023, notably through the exclusive distribution of Bình Điền Quảng Trị Fertilizer Joint Stock Company’s products in Laos.

Vinachem’s Exhibition Stand Draws Interest from Leaders of Both Countries
A highlight of VIETLAO EXPO 2026 is Vinachem’s custom-built exhibition area of 108m²—equivalent to 12 standard stands—in the central position opposite the organising committee. This is one of the largest Vietnamese corporate displays at the fair.

Immediately after the opening and signing ceremony, Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Tâm, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Laos, Mr. Phouthavanh Nanthavong, leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Phongsavanh Group executives visited Vinachem’s stand. They explored the product groups on display and discussed production capacity, market expansion, and cooperation prospects with representatives of Vinachem’s subsidiaries.

Nine subsidiaries of Vinachem—Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, Lam Thao Superphosphate and Chemicals Joint Stock Company, LIX Detergent Joint Stock Company, Dry Cell & Storage Battery Joint Stock Company (PINACO), Ninh Binh Phosphate Fertilizer Joint Stock Company (NIFERCO), Hanoi Soap Joint Stock Company (HASO), The Southern Rubber Industry Joint Stock Company, Danang Rubber Joint Stock Company (DRC), and Vietnam Pesticide Joint Stock Company (VIPESCO)—presented four key product groups: fertilisers (urea, DAP, NPK, superphosphate, fused phosphate, and specialist fertilisers); consumer chemicals (detergent powder and liquid, washing-up liquid, floor cleaner, fabric softener, soap); technical rubber and tyres; and batteries for household and industrial use. Delegates engaged directly with company representatives on production capacity, product quality, and strategies for developing the Lao market.

Vinachem’s activities at VIETLAO EXPO 2026—from the opening ceremony to partnership agreements and the central exhibition stand—have created new opportunities for cooperation and market expansion, while deepening the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos through practical and effective economic programmes. This is also a concrete step in implementing Resolution No. 79-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the building of large, efficient, regionally competitive state economic groups, reaffirming Vinachem’s role in fostering economic links, expanding growth, and elevating the Vietnamese chemical industry in this new stage of development.
