Opening of the 2026 Vinachem Employee Sports Festival – Southern Region
On the morning of 11 July, at the Multi-Purpose Sports Arena in Can Tho City, the Vietnam Chemical Industry Trade Union held the opening ceremony of the 2026 Employee Sports Festival (CNVCLĐ) for the Southern region of the Vietnam National Chemical Group. Nearly 400 athletes from 12 teams are competing in five sports: football, volleyball (soft), pickleball, badminton, and table tennis.
Before the opening ceremony, the Group’s leaders, delegates, and the athlete teams joined in a fun run, creating an energetic atmosphere and kicking off two days of sporting festivities for the chemical industry’s workforce.
The opening ceremony was attended by Ms. Lê Thị Đức, Vice President of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union; Ms. Phan Thị Diệu Loan, Member of the Standing Committee and Head of Labour Relations of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union; Mr. Phùng Quang Hiệp, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Members’ Council of the Vietnam National Chemical Group; Mr. Hoàng Mạnh Thắng, Member of the Members’ Council; Mr. Nguyễn Văn Luyện, Deputy General Director; Mr. Lê Ngọc Quang, Deputy General Director; Mr. Tăng Văn Quân, Group Controller; leaders of the Chemical Industry Trade Union; representatives of the Group’s functional departments, and leaders of member units from the Southern region.
In his address, Mr. Nguyễn Huy Thông noted that maintaining a culture of physical activity meaningfully enhances workers’ health and spirit, and helps build a united, positive working environment. The Sports Festival is also an opportunity for staff and employees from different units to meet, learn, and strengthen bonds across the Group.
He called on athletes to compete with honesty, solidarity, and sportsmanship, strictly following the rules; referees to officiate objectively and fairly; and organisers to ensure the competitions are conducted safely and according to plan.
Right after the opening ceremony, the first competitions took place energetically. The cheering from the stands, the determination of the athletes, and the enthusiasm of the supporters created an exciting atmosphere, highlighting the vibrant sporting culture within the Vinachem workforce.
The 2026 Employee Sports Festival – Southern Region is held over two days, 11 and 12 July. This annual event by the Vietnam Chemical Industry Trade Union helps to foster physical fitness, strengthen bonds between units, and encourage a vibrant cultural life within the enterprise.
